Updated review: Sidelines is doing great! The staff is friendly as ever. The new remodel did them good. Lots of tvs, strong drinks and a good vibe all the way around. The patrons are almost always friendly. The bar doesn't offer food (other than popcorn), but I don't go out drinking to look for food. I love Dean, Evan and Rusty - great bartenders! The owner is always sociable with the crowd and greets us with a hug every single time. Sidelines is worthy of our business. Everyone can always do better, but they are consistently a pleasant experience!

Sidelines is a predominantly gay sports bar located on "the drive" in Wilton Manor. It's clean, neat, well organized with plenty of flat screen TV's, pool tables, a fun mixed crowd of gays, lesbians and some straights. It's a great mix of people with everyone having a good time, enjoying reasonably priced drinks and free peanuts from bowls located on the bars and table. Contrary to some earlier reviews, it is not smokey. They changed from a smoking bar to a nonsmoking bar and also spruced up the interior, which is now has some rather decent lighting. All in all, a good place to talk sports and to enjoy a drink. The mix and different backgrounds of the patrons is pretty much what makes it the place it is and contributes to the good times one might experience. Sidelines also has or is home bar for various sporting teams, like soft ball and so on.

Raw peanuts. Florescent lights. Collegiate flags. Lots of TV's. This is definitely a sports bar. Paul W. did a great job explaining Wilton Manors to me. I've been here before, but in the years since my last visit everything seems to have gotten more "specialized." He told me there's something for everyone... and that's absolutely right. In theory, I love the concept of everyone going to their own bar. At some point I think I miss the intermingling. Fortunately, you get a fair amount of that here. Combine that with strong drinks (and so much special pricing they have to write it all down for you) you almost forget where you are. That's good for someone like me who isn't particularly into sports, but enjoys people watching at the bar. It's been proven that the drunker I get, the better you look.

Sidelines is a great bar to watch a game with yours friends. Lots of seating but the place is pretty popular so you may get a table but going from spot to sport or to the dart boards and pool tables can take some thinking (hard when your on your 4th red headed slut for some) and since the set up is a giant square with the main bar in the middle and a side bar to the left of the entrance its a bit of a maze. Still a good time watch a game play some pool and just enjoy a night out. Hey gay guys like sports too. But some angry lesbians who I reckon work there may be a bit offensive. Just watch out for them.

Boisterous and fun crowd on a Friday night. Walking distance from the gay strip mall, parking across the street. Aiming for sports bar, the feel is very casual, neighborhood, and unpretentious. Peanuts are a nice touch.

After some scuttlebutt a few years back about Sidelines possibly closing down and moving to Oakland Park Blvd. into a larger bar/restaurant facility, they simply ended up renovating this existing bar. IMO, not much has changed about Sidelines since I first reviewed it. They've changed the logo that appears on their website and their uniform shirts, they've painted the place in a different color scheme and they've added a few more TVs for watching sports, but it basically appears they just did a bit of a refresh of the existing space, keeping much of the same layout and setup. The reason I've dropped a star from my last review and taken this sports bar back down to 4 stars (which means I'm still a fan!), is because a few of the things I really appreciated most about Sidelines went away with the renovation. The complimentary bowls of peanuts they used to offer at the bar and on every table are gone. Also, they no longer offer some of the drink specials they once had. I'd come here late on Friday and Saturday nights in the past when beers were 2-4-1, and also came here here when you could get a bucket of 5 beers for the price of 3, even late on weekend nights. Post-renovation I was here at around 10 on a Saturday night, and they weren't offering any drink specials at that time. When I asked if those went away when they refreshed the place, the bartender just smiled, shook his head and said "not on weekends, no". It's also a little disappointing that Sidelines doesn't seem to be as popular and busy as it once was - perhaps because most of the action now seems to happen a bit farther up Wilton Drive, and it's pretty lifeless most Friday and Saturday nights down at this end. Shame, too, as this really is a great sports bar!

I went to Sidelines recently on a Sunday to watch the USA women's world cup final. I am not usually big into watching sports but a few of my friends invited me down to hang out and I love the energy of any final game. Plus it was fun cheering on the women's USA team. Don't get me wrong I love sports and enjoyed watching the game but I don't have a team or sport I am dedicated to. When I got there the place was completely packed! My friends had a corner saved with about 6 bar stools pushed up against the wall. They have TV's on every inch of the walls almost so it didn't matter which way you were facing it was easy to see the game. Drinks were super cheap too and the bartenders did a really good job keeping up with the large crowd. I saw an outdoor area and some pool tables but it was hard to get around on such a busy night. I will definitely go back for sure even if its just to hang out. It had a good vibe to the place and a good crowd. I took a Lyft ride so I am not to sure about parking but there was plenty of meters on the street.

Having moved here in May '11, I think we've found our new local watering hole. It's a "sports bar" which is so not my thing on the surface, but Sidelines has such a great atmosphere and is full of so many different people that non-sports fans will not be booed out the front door. I may even go for games. They're breaking me out of my shell. Check it out, it's like Cheer's and you'll have a great time! Promise.

Gay men & sports bars don't seem to go hand-in-hand, but you'd be surprised! While I don't necessarily go to watch games, I do enjoy coming for drinks and good conversation. Its not your usual gay bar, obviously, but it is a neat spot on the Drive that is underappreciated and a little trek down past the hipper spots. You won't hear them pumping the latest Ariana Grande jam or see shirtless men screaming for joy when Britney plays; but you will see a bunch of dudes sitting back, playing pool and enjoying a nice cold beer. Thats sometimes refreshing! I really enjoy coming on Wednesday nights when they have 75 cent drinks after a certain time (9pm I believe). The bartender at the main bar is usually an older gentleman who has a great attitude and seems to remember me from way back in my wilder days. The first time I came in a long time, he remembered me, and poured me a great drink-- so I suppose I made a great impression. On Sundays it is usually a female crowd cheering for the Dolphins and it gets quite packed. I definitely recommend coming here for low-key nights or when you just need a change of pace. Theres only so many nights you can handle the loud atmosphere of the other bars around here.

Great bar with a great mix of people. Anyone can come in and feel welcome. Very chill and drama free.

Now Sidelines is charging 1 Dollar extra when you pay with Debit or Credit Card as a Service Fee. Sidelines is getting worse, they now closed on Mondays. Thanks Laurie, you know how to get the money out of one of your best customers before. No Bar in Wilton Manors do that. So 15 Dollars max for use your Debit/Credit Card, right? Even Mc Donald's don't charge you extra for using your Cards. LOL, Laurie, Sidelines Owner, you are ridiculous! Out of Business in a few Month, I guess! Maybe you are too drugged to realize that this is "Monkey Business". Sidelines never had a problem with it. Maybe the "Transaction Fees" raise from 2 to 3% over the last 5 years, but for a Cocktail which cost 9 Dollars the "Transaction Fee" is 27 Cents, so you charge 1 Dollar for that? Are you STUPID or lost your mind?

I've been to Sidelines a few times now. There seems to always be a drink special or Happy Hour going on, which is awesome. Their bartenders are all really nice, and the drinks are suitably strong! Sidelines has a good mix of people, and the place is practically sparkling (clean). Only downside, no food.

My brother likes this bar. When I come to visit, he brings me here. I like to think of sidelines on a late weekend night as a variety show. For the record, I am a straight female and sidelines is a gay "sports bar." Just throwing it out there for any readers who may be "weary" of this place. DON'T BE! It's FUN! It has pool, and darts, and tvs and everything you expect a sports bar to be. I wish there were more places in Sidelines in CT, I'd go all the time! Drinks are STRONG, company is eccentric and flamboyant in the very best ways and you never know who you may run into! (oh, hello drag queen....oh hello there, gay porn star!....oh HELLLOOOO gay man and WHY ARE YOU NOT STRAIGHT?!) One sidenote....When using the bathroom ladies, make sure you are accompanied by someone. Be aware that just because it says "ladies room" that does not mean that only ladies use it! My brother lead me by my hand to make sure I got there "safely"..Phew, you should see what goes on in those bathrooms!

I have been waiting to publish this review for a while because I love this place SO much, but the fact that its SO SMOKEY inside kills me. Literally. But, for all you non-smokers, I heard a winderful rumor that Side Lines is now SMOKE FREE! Yipppppppppie!!!! I never leave here even close to sober. The happy Hour is 241 and everytime I go there, it always seems to be happy hour! They have TVS everywhere so its GREAT to watch football at. There are plenty of pool tables, and darts, and dont even get me started on the dance parties that we get going there! Crank on some GaGa and watch us go! Love this place. Thank you awesome Bartenders, and thank you to the wonferful residents of Wilton Manors. You are so fun, and I always know there is a good time to be had when I am around you. xox

Sidelines is a nice alternative to the rest of the gay bars on the Drive. If you're more into sports than music videos, this is your place. Clean and spacious, plenty of TVs air different sports games currently on. They have a Foosball table, several pool tables and darts. They have beer pong and all sorts of other types of sportsy competitions you can partake in. Like most places on the Drive, their drinks are cheap and strong and they have good happy hour specials. And, if like me, you actually like those music videos they have a jukebox playing good music, even if you don't get the videos along with it.

The local watering hole, the neighborhood pub - phrases that come to my mind when I think of Sidelines! Located on Wilton Drive in the heart of Wilton Manors, this bar calls itself a sports bar and rightfully so. With TV screens everywhere playing the latest important sporting event, the walls are lined with sports memorabilia and Florida sports mascots. Drinks are well priced, service quick, and no cover charge. THAT SAID, although a sports bar, on the most popular nights, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, the patrons' intent is not to watch sports nor play pool. In fact, on these nights, the men and the boys clad themselves in what my friends and I like to call the "uniform" - a tight fitting graphic tee preferably from Abercrombie & Fitch or American Eagle along with fashion denim or cargo shorts with sandals. In others words, g-e-n-e-r-i-c. If you come to this place frequently, you will easily spot the regulars!!! I experience this place the best when there is a true sporting event worth watching...the Olympics, the World Cup, the World Series, etc. Because on any other night it's too safe and non-exciting.

This bar overall is a fun place, but it has one huge fault - SMOKE! Drinks are reasonable, and there is a good mix of people of all ages but most are mid 20s to early 50s. The variety of sports is good on the TVs too, the only bad thing is they don't play the sound at night. A real sports bar would play the sound on the feature sporting event, but I understand the desire and need for music. The only problem is they allow smoking and when you leave you smell like an ashtray and your clothes stink. Because of the smoke I go here a lot less than I would otherwise. Nearby bars Matty's, The Manor, and Alibi are smoke free if you prefer that environment. Even with the clouds, Sidelines deserves 3 stars.

I love this bar and love a gay sports bar- but the SMOKE sends me other places........ Why does it seem like everyone in Wilton Manors smokes? Seriously?

This is honestly one of the best bars in Fort Lauderdale. I always seem to have a good time whenever I make it to Sidelines. No attitude and cheap drink prices means they are always busy. The bartenders and owners are all friendly and very welcoming. Nice people frequent this bar and it isn't uncommon to strike up a conversation with a complete stranger. Chill place to grab a beer whenever and with whom ever. Negatives: They always check my ID at least three times and I wish it was smoke free. Since they installed those huge smoke-eaters, it doesn't seem as bad, thank god.

Decent bar but EXTREMELY smokey inside. Of all the bars in Wilton Manors, this is the one where you will go home smelling like an ashtray. Don't say I didn't warn you. The drinks are good and the crowd is great, but they need to get a DJ or lock out the Touch Tunes after a certain time on the weekend. Some queen played a ton of Enya and Sade at 12AM on Saturday and nearly put everyone to sleep...definitely get rid of the touch tunes. If this bar went non-smoking, I would go more often and definitely give it a better review. For now, it stands at a 2 for the fact that as soon as I get home from being here I need to shower and put on new clothes.

Came here on a Friday night with some friends and had a pretty enjoyable time. The people inside are friendly and out of an AE / Sears catalog dress up. I am not one to judge but the mix was quite a mix. It felt very much like a transient bar. As in everyone inside this place never grew up in the area but came from somewhere in the center of the country and are cool now cause they have a neighborhood bar to go to. The people are friendly the bartenders are slow, and there is a queu to get a drink. Being a 'new yorker' of course i went straight to the side and ordered from the bar. My friends gasped in amazement like i had done something wrong or broke some county ordinance. I dont wait in lines oe behind a velvet rope in nyc, wilton manors isnt gonna change me either. The drinks are cheap but then again everything down these ways is...it adds up though so be forewarned. There are about '50' flat screen tv's everywhere showing sports taped previously around the country and pool tables for those of you who like to chalk up a stick now and again. I don't ever want to return but it is what it is and make it. If i lived here i am sure i would get tricked into showing up at lease once everyother week.

Great crowd and the kind of atmosphere you'd expect of a popular gay sports bar. Plenty of bartenders and quick service, especially given the number of people the place packs in. A circuit of the Wilton bars wouldn't be complete without stopping in here. Smoking in the bar is a little bothersome, so I do prefer some of the places nearby that serve food and don't allow indoor smoking.
